The Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL portable powerbox, is designed to enable one operator to test a trailer’s lighting system, EBS / ABS warning light, and CAN line integrity.
Overview of the Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDLThe Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL replicates the role of a truck, providing power to a trailer’s electrical systems by means of either the 24S / 24N or ISO 7638 sockets, thereby making it an ideal choice when no tractor unit is available. As Fig. 1 below shows, connectivity is via the trailer headboard using the appropriate leads, all of which are supplied, as standard, with the TrailerMaster unit itself.
Once connected, simply switch the Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL unit on, and then, by means of the control panel display (which is a replica of a truck and trailer), use the buttons to turn each trailer light on or off, as well as perform other functions of the DRA02HDL unit, either individually, or, in sequence, the latter by means of the TrailerMaster’s Auto Test feature. A complete list of the LEDs / switches and their functions, is provided in Fig. 2 below, and the two tables immediately following it.

Operating the TrailerMaster DRA02HDL by remote controlUsing the remote control feature of the Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL, makes testing trailer lighting systems less time consuming. The key fob (shown in Fig. 3 below), works anywhere within 100ft (30m) of the base unit, thus allowing the operator to go back and forth through the trailer lights, and turn the ISO 7638 ignition on and off, whilst simultaneously walking around the vehicle. This feature is especially useful, if there is only one person present when the trailer is being tested.

Operating the TrailerMaster DRA02HDL in Auto Test modeThe alternative to using the remote control, is to use the Auto Test feature of the Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL, which powers the trailer lights in a preset sequence. This too is very useful if there is only one person present when the trailer is being tested, as the sequence is programmed to give the operator time to walk around the vehicle. The precise sequence in which the trailer lights are tested, and the timings, are provided in the table below.

Auto Test Sequence Timing
1 Right Hand Side Lights 15 seconds
2 Right Hand Indicator 5 seconds
3 Reverse Lights 5 seconds
4 Fog Lights 5 seconds
5 Left Hand Indicator 5 seconds
6 Left Hand Side Lights 15 seconds

Operating the TrailerMaster DRA02HDL in Auto Test modeThe alternative to using the remote control, is to use the Auto Test feature of the Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL, which powers the trailer lights in a preset sequence. This too is very useful if there is only one person present when the trailer is being tested, as the sequence is programmed to give the operator time to walk around the vehicle. The precise sequence in which the trailer lights are tested, and the timings, are provided in the table below.
Whilst the Auto Test feature is running, the Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL automatically tests each lighting circuit for open or short circuit faults. If it finds a fault, the corresponding LED (Light Emitting Diode) on the control panel will flash; slowly for open circuit, and fast for short circuit.
Charging the TrailerMaster DRA02HDLCharging the Drakefield TrailerMaster DRA02HDL is very straightforward. Just plug it into the mains, and, even if the unit is turned off, it will charge the internal batteries from discharged to fully recharged in under two hours. When the unit is turned on, you can quickly see how much power is still available, by the easy-to-read battery level met
