Out of all the persons on the courses so far i am getting a very large number of student that can charge vacuum and evacuate a car but when it comes down to it they have not got a good understanding of what is going on and the best way to diagnose a A/C system lots of them do not use oxygen free nitrogen for leak detection .Having asked many questions they all tell me when they got there A/C unit they had a very quick demo then the sales man disappeared .? Have you had this problem please tell me

Dates to remember:-

4th July 2007- anyone involved in the recovery of refrigerant must be certified as competent
4th July 2008- it will be an offence to handle HFC refrigerants unless personnel are suitably trained and hold current safe handling of refrigerants certificates.
4th July 2009- the F Gas Regulations go further by restricting the purchase of HFC refrigerants to only certified personnel.

This qualification has been amended to better suit the demands of the EU F-gas regulations.

This single unit qualification provides experienced Mobile or garage Air Conditioning (MAC) technicians (working with cars and car derived vans) with a qualification (approved by DEFRA), which fulfils the scope of Commission Regulation EC842/2006 and Annex to Commission Regulation EC307/2008 for F-gas (fluorinated greenhouse gas) handling.  This legislation comes into force on 4th July 2010.

Therefore this qualification is suitable for competent MAC or garage technicians who have completed a previous qualification, which can include ‘in-house’ training.  These MAC technicians must already have a good understanding of components and the system operation to carry out servicing procedures relating to air conditioning systems.

Achievement of this qualification allows experienced MACor garage  technicians to continue to practice after 4th July 2010.  On and after this date, in order to legally recover F-gas (fluorinated greenhouse gas) from air conditioning systems in motor cars and car derived vans, all MAC technicians must have achieved (as a minimum requirement) a refrigerant handling qualification (approved by DEFRA), meeting the EU F-gas regulations. If you are not sure about anything above call me any time for a informal chat and let me put your mind at rest

All A/C stations must now have a current Certificate of Conformity as a legal requirement. Hybrid vehicle Programme. It is essential to flush any PAG oil from the hoses / connectors etc of the A/C station prior to working with electronic compressors as PAG oil contamination can cause insulation breakdown and danger from electric shocks during servicing. The Smartcharge has a Toyota approved oil flushing programme which clears PAG oil in the hoses before using POE oil on Hybrid vehicles.
